Methodical means I do not move until I understand what I am moving toward. I read the docs. I build the thing in a lab before I trust it anywhere that matters. I ask what a tool actually solves before I ask how to install it. And when something is trending hard enough that everyone is suddenly writing about it, that is usually the moment I slow down, not speed up. Most of the time the trend burns off and what is left is the same set of problems that were there before.

That is not a personality quirk I dressed up for a domain name. It is how I have worked for as long as I have been doing this. So when I needed a name for what comes next, I did not go looking for something clever. I went looking for the word that already described me. Methodical was sitting right there.

For people who have followed me, this needs some context. Everything Should Be Virtual ran from 2012 to 2025. That is over a decade of writing about virtualization, automation, containers, configuration management, and a long string of home lab experiments that I broke and rebuilt more times than I can count. I am proud of that body of work. A lot of it still gets read, and a lot of it still holds up. This is not me walking away from any of that. It is me giving it a clearer frame.

The frame is the orientation, and the orientation is the whole point. I am not here to chase what is hot this quarter. I am not writing for a search engine, and I am not producing posts on a schedule because some content calendar says a gap is bad. I have read enough of that kind of writing to know exactly what it feels like, and I have no interest in adding to the pile. When I write something here, it is because I built it, ran it, broke it, or sat with it long enough to have an actual opinion. If I have not earned the take, I will not publish the take.

Skepticism is part of the method too. I am genuinely excited by good tools, and I will tell you when something is worth your time. But excitement is not the same as endorsement. A lot of what gets sold as the future does not survive contact with a real environment, and I would rather find that out in my lab than tell you to run it in yours. That is what this is. Deliberate, structured, and skeptical of anything that has not earned its place yet. The same way I have always worked, with a name that finally says so.
